I started studying Japanese when I changed my job. Before that I was working on a research in Beijing University's lab. All of a sudden, I changed my work to a Japanese pharmaceutical company. I never had a plan to work in Japan or study Japanese. I only wanted to work in an overseas leading industry and be close to mainland China, so when this chance for a new job came, I really thought it was incidental. Future is not something you can control. Therefore, I want to have an open mind and not resist possibilities for the future. I made the career change to study Japanese because I felt this was a possibility, so I followed my instinct.
Even though I said I
did not have a plan, I obviously had a strong interest in Japan from long time ago. I am attracted
to not just its culture, but also its highly developed transportation network and social service level.
The ease in which you can spend your time in Japanese restaurants or shopping here is very distinctive.
As I am a Chinese and lived in Beijing for a long time, life in Tokyo is not difficult for me at all.
China and Japan have a common cultural basis from ancient time. Also, I can read "Kanji" and
memorized "Hiragana" and "Katakana" in no time. I feel that studying in Japan and
living in Japan is rather easy for us Chinese.
